Hey fellas, Just had a question about trade centers, you see as America after the revolution most countries won't be using the manhattan trade center so it closes down, my question is how or when does a trade center open back up after it closes due to lack of competition?

It's random. The game engine will determine where and when a new CoT is needed, based on the amount of trade being generated in the area and a modifier that lies in provinces.csv, among other factors.

Maybe too few countries know the Manhattan CoT. Have you tried to exchange maps with them ?

On a sidenote, I've never seen a cot dissapear except by event. What conditions must be met? I mean I've held a cot with only my six merchants in it for hundreds of years (it's the one in australia, the ai doesn't seem to go there often and the colonies are good, 5-7 base tax, placid natives save one of them and good prod income as well plus the location penalty isn't too high). As far as I know, only two provinces in india start with 9 base tax if turned to city and pampas del norte/pampas del sur start with eight (and it's grain so I want those in every game I play that includes colonizing over the ocean).

Lack of activity is the condition that must be met ;) If you've completely monopolized the trade center it'll disapear.

I dont think its possible for a COT to last that long with empty slots. I think it just disappeared and respawned in the same province (happens a lot to australian and pacific COTs) and you didnt notice it since it didnt move.
