Changing the Finnish basic fighter model 12_0
As far I know no one has noticed the mistake that is made concerning the Finnish 12_0 basic fighter. The game developers made the choice for the VL Myrsky 1. Why is this choice made? I don't know.
The Myrsky was not an early war plane. The game let us believe that the Myrsky 1 was in Finland the predecessor of the Messerschmitt Bf-109G Gustav, that is not true. The Myrsky 1 was the prototype of the Myrsky 2 interceptor. In total were only four Myrsky 1 planes built. The first Myrsky 1 prototype flew in December 1941 and there were many problems with this plane. The test flights showed problems with the sturtural strength during high speed tests. The three other prototypes were destroyed during the test flights, and two test pilots died, one was seriously injured.
The series production started after German deliveries of Messerschmitt Bf 109G fighters had begun in 1942. The series production version was called Myrsky II. 47 Myrsky II fighters were built and together with the Myrsky I version the production amounted to 51 fighters. Although the aircraft met the specifications set for it, it did not fully fulfill expectations due to structural problems.
As for some other minor powers is i.m.o. the best choice for the Finnish basic fighter (game model FIN_12_0) the Brewster Buffalo fighter. The same is true for the Netherlands. The Koolhoven F.K.58 did never flew in the Dutch airforce, but the Buffalo did in the Dutch East Indies. It was an important fighter plane there. At first 144 buffalo's were ordered but after the collapse of the Netherlands in May 1940 the order was reduced to 72 planes. Later, in 1941, twenty more Brewsters were ordered but by the time war began against Japan only 71 had arrived in the Netherlands East Indies. As the Dutch Buffalo's were lighter than the F2A-3 used by the US, they were able to successfully dogfight the Japanese Nakajima Ki-43, although it was still out-turned by the A6M Zero.
It is credible to use the Brewster also for the game model BEL_12_0. Belgium ordered in December 1939 forty Buffalo fighters. Unfortunately, only two aircraft reached France during the collapse of Belgium and they were later captured by the Germans. Six planes ended up in Martinique with the French Air Force, where they were eventually destroyed. The rest of the order was passed to the UK, where they were considered unfit for duty in western Europe, they were supplied to British Commonwealth air forces in Asia.
In Finland was the Brewster Buffalo a real success story. The aircraft did not arrive in time for the Winter War, but their impact in the Continuation War from 1941 until 1944 was remarkable. The fighter was never referred to as the Buffalo in Finland; it was known simply as the Brewster, or sometimes by the nickname Taivaan helmi ("Sky Pearl") The Buffalo was the Finnish main fighter until 1943. Results with this fighter were very good, even though the type was considered to be a failure in the US Navy & with British Far East forces. The Buffalo gained a reputation as one of the most successful combat aircraft ever flown by the Finnish Air Force. The Messerschmitt Bf-109G Gustav replaced the Buffalo as the primary front-line fighter of the Finnish air force in 1943, though the Buffalo's continued in secondary roles until the end of the war.

I have found the Finnish inaccurate plane model because I work for my self on a Dutch mod. I am not satisfied with the original Dutch (general) equipment models. I have already created a lot of ill_div_hol_XX_X pictures and have more suggestions to create more realistic Dutch models. I hope this will finally also be incorporated with the SKIF icons mod too, I like these icons very much.
