Hi All,

Existing light armour divisions upgrade to regular armour once Medium Tank (III) is researched.

But I can't see how this switch is done, since Medium Tank (III) does not render Light Armour (II) obsolete, and you can keep making more Light Armour.

I'd appreciate it if anyone can tell me how this switch is done, since I'd like to mod my game to allow existing Cav (IV) to upgrade to Armour in the same way (as happened in many armies in real life), but retain the ability to build more Cav if wanted (like the Soviets did).

Anyone know how this works?

Yes its hardcoded in the gameengine that light armor is allowed to upgrade to armor. This is not possible with any other units.

If you're willing to play around with an editor or do editing by hand, you can totally do it.

Can you tell me how? I know I can edit it so that cav can become armour, but only through making cav obsolete and therefore unavailable, which is not what I want.

I think I just realized what you're asking. You want existing units to upgrade, but retain the ability to use the base units. Yeah, I don't think the game will let you do that - it's one or the other I'm afraid.
