also if I recall it right the combined arms bonus is only related to not having more then a certain number of cav (depending on tech group), so you would still get it if you only use inf
Yes, "combined arms" is really a misleading term (especially for people familiar with HoI series). It's really more of a "bonus for not having excessive cavalry".

It was said here that infantry is superior after 1450 and use only inf. Is this relevant for non-latins?
what composition should I use for oriental/ottoman/muslim units and when should I modernize them?
Now I have lt32 as oriental (westrenized but not modernized) and using 6I/4C/2A as standard stack(I-Saxon,C-winged hussar), before that I used 4I/4C as standard.
should I use a different proportion as my infantry will suck until lt43 (Greencoat).
Generally using qizilbash and steppe cavalries against latins gave me victories in the 16th century

you should have latin tech units inside the first 100 years if you do it right, until then I tend to opt for 50%/50% with estern/muslim units....with ottomans its a bit more tricky since they also have decent inf in the early game

If had been so easy... I had to make 9 slider moves (7 centralizations 2 innovative), wait until kings Moron I and Moron II die to westernize around 1550.
Then the good king had died while I stabilized, changed government and slider and now I'm living under an insufficient adm 6 king with an adm 3 heir (I need adm 7). Somehow most of the kings are so useless. And if using moronic kings as generals the army may get destroyed but the king alone survives.

patron of the arts should take care of the innovative moves you need, and if you dont have a suitable king around the time its probably worth it to go republic for a short while
