You answered yourself. Until the Edict of Tolerance big event (not France's one, but the one firing aroune 1650-1680), you can't marry a reformed or protestant country if you are catholic (or CRC), and so you can't diplo-annex them*. :)

* understand this as follows : you don't need to actually have a RM to DA, but you have to be able to conclude a RM with their religion

Ahh,thanks a lot.I quess it is same problem with dutch also.I released them because of high partisan activity and now Id like to devour them to my empire once again.I just vassalized Orleans,I quess I can diplo annex them atleast.

Exactly.

As of 1.09, you can convert to another religion without losing your vassals*, so you might make a "midweek trip" to protestantism, diplo-annex the Huguenots and the Netherlands, and come back to catholicism.
But that'll hurt your stability, your diplomacy and your treasury (to build back your diplomacy), as well as probably earning you a couple of revolts.

* beware that I haven't yet tried this, so I can't confirm it properly works...

Well, I had no doubts that if such a feature was buggy, it wouldn't have gone unnoticed, but it's always better to get some confirmation. Thx. :)

Thanks for the confirmation on that rule, Ozzeh. That's one of the really great IMHO new changes in 1.09.

EvilSanta: Nevertheless, as Ambassador suggests, your turmoil in doing a religion doubleswitch just to diploannex somebody a few decades early is IMHO not worth it. Be patient and you can annex them a bit later (early 1650s). They won't run away anywhere in the meantime.

I waited for that event that allows to marry other religions and annexed them. Now Im back to my fierce fights with Austria. Its finally time to revenge Austrian continous attacks some 50-100 years ago.I lost a lot of money buying peaces from austrians.

DSYE, would the boardgame's rules be freely downloadable anywhere ? I've never seen it here in Belgium, and apparently it's interesting in understanding the inner workings of the game...
I doubt it. The game is still made and sold by Azure Wish Edition. I purchased it in order to get my hot little hands on the rules, which helped a lot with trying to understand the Battle System FAQ.

It's about $40 (US); it is QUITE the complicated game for a tabletop game.

I saw a part of the tabletop rules, at least regarding the terrain. Somebody here had an AAR site published in Russian. He posted a link to his site. Either on his site or in his signature were links to other sites. One of the sites had not been updated in years; but it had the tabletop rules. I saw that within the last six months.

That would have been a violation of copywrite laws, so I wouldn't go broadcasting it too loudly here. ;)

No, it is fair use to publish small quotes of copyrighted material. I think that all I saw was the bit of the rules related to terrain. But, hey, since you have the rules maybe you could enlighten us on the way that the trade system works. Does a player's merchant first have a roll to see if it is successful and then a roll to see who gets kicked out? Or is there first a matchup of a player's merchant to another merchant?
