Event about Council of Trent and counterreformation should give centre of (counter)reformation to Papal States capital. That catholic centre would work the same way as protestant centre - converting heretics to catholicism.

Also currently reformation spread seems pretty balanced to me. Usually it's close to historical outcome, sometimes bigger part of Europe is converted, sometimes smaller, but generally it seems not bad.

IDK, I may just have had bad luck, but for me the reformation always roflstomps everything, with only Iberia and the pope staying catholic. It'd be reallynice to have a catholic center of reformation for those embracing counterreformation.

As for the back-and-forth. It exists currently as well, between the two reformed faiths, I believe. This can be solved by with the recent conversion modifier making CoR conversion mipossible.

The problem is disclosed in multiplayer.
An unhelpful statement when not accompanied by further explanation to those of us who don't play MP.

Agree with AmbroStoics. So far, all of Europe except Iberia and Southest of Italy converted to heresy in my games. (yes, even Pope's provinces flipped, although Pope didn't ofc) It's annoying that I can never get a catholic Ireland.

Worst part is, even if you stay faithful and convert your own provinces back to Catholic, CoR will flip them back again. It's an endless fight.

Unless it's in a small country's capital, in which case you start a war with them, walk over there, and force them to change religion, job done.

Why? Then you'd have a constant pointless back-and-forth between that centre and the other ones.

We already have back and forth. My catholic state is converting heretics and cenres of reformations keep converting them again. Is really hard to stay catholic for anyone except Spain, Portugal and maybe Poland. Catholicism is underpowered compared to heretics but it's topic for another discussion. Anyway help from papal centre of (counter)reformation would be nice addition.

I think the only province I had converted in the whole of the Reformation in my last Austria game was the one that directly bordered Switzerland's Reformed CoR.

it it helps stop the inevitable complete conversion of switzerland and northern italy to reformed, im game.

i wouldnt mind if it was part of improving the counter reformation in general, as at the moment it's a trade off of easier conversion but slowing down my ability to make use of said conversion.

It's just your bad luck... When I play a Catholic and stay Catholic, or when I play someone outside of Europe, Catholicism is ALWAYS the mainstream religion... Even Scandinavia is usually Catholic... Only small nations within the HRE are Protestant or Reformed...

No it doesn't; centres of reformation only target Catholic provinces; Protestant and Reformed CoR do not convert reformed or protestant provinces.

That can be annoying anyway, with Protestant Prussia I was 1 region from 100% religious unity and you couldn't convert the last because it was already being converted to reformed... stupid reformers!

In my games, sometimes protestantism(s) proliferate and remain, other times they are largely quashed.

I often find that either Scandinavia, or Britain do not become Protestant, and fairly often both remain Catholic - this usually spells doom for protestantism.
The region that is reliably protestant-leaning (for my games) is northern Germany (and maybe Switzerland for reformed).

I've played for around 1,200 hours.

If you've had a game that didn't go well, try another play through. It won't be perfect, but it will be different.

In my games the protestants achieve nothing. Sometimes they don't even get GB. France never and maybe some states in the HRE, but if you play the emperor you could force them pretty easyly back. In my last game only scandinavia and livlonian order got protestants and reformed had no provinces at all.

Sorry, my mistake. I usually stay catholic, which is why I find the lack of a counter-balance frustrating. But like some stated, it is probably a matter of luck. I do hate it though, that after I wat my share of years for the recent conversion modifier to pass, CoR do not respect this same rule and convert regardless of the modifier being applied due to my recent conversion of the province back to catholic. If at least this was fixed, I would be sooo happy.

In my games, the reformation usually hits somehwere in Germany, and Scandinavia and Britain are quick to switch. I think I had one game as Reformed Hesse, where Britain remained catholic and he and Spain were back-and-forthing Defender of Faith and kept protecting German catholic minors, that I was trying to gooble up with Reformed France as my ally. But yeah, other than that, I think Protestantism/Reformation usually took over.
