the basileus of byzantine, who is a catholic, is just elected to be the Ecumenical Patriach:confused:
the former Ecumenical Patriach was killed by this basileus, for he active a faction and lost and then imprisoned by this basileus

From what I understand, there are huge problems in general in the current version where secular lieges somehow inherit religious titles even if they shouldn't... leading to lots of circumstances where, for example, the Basileus of the Byzantine Empire also becomes Ecumenical Patriarch of his religion, or the Papacy gets inherited by all kinds of people, including women.
