Chapter Nintendo 64
King Unuist The Second
The only threat left on the continent was at liege. There, French forces were sieging back a captured by.... who? No one knows who sieged it, but it is said that whoever did did so under Unuist's banner? Ghosts? Cathar rebels? Enemies of the French king? Either way, they were still a threat, as after liege fell the French would regroup and fight back Unuist, something he would not let happen.
The battle raged for days. The battle could have went either ways. French armies were coming to reinforce the French in days. Unuist knew that he needed to crush the French quickly, lest he beset on both sides by equal forces. After the tenth day, he launched a daring strike at the French, breaking their lines and slaying anything in his path. As the reinforces arrive, they met a prepared force, who had already beaten their comrades and were chasing them off.
Both forces were defeated. In the midst of the final fight, the duke of Luxembourg was captured. After the battle, he was put in the wooden cage with the duke of Dauphine. Men at this point started calling the cage "The Ducal Palace" because of the prisoner's inside.
Days later, a messenger alive. The man braved the sea and French countryside to deliver a letter to him.
Luitgard had given birth. A girl, which she named Marie. She said she had a dream before she went in labor. That the lord came to her, telling her that their child was blessed, and that her name was Marie. And that is why she named her such.
(And blessed she is!)
Days later, Unuist was in Brabant fighting the remainder of the French forces.
The battle was one and once again, another duke was captured. He was also put into The Ducal Palace.
Unuist noticed that Usabail was not eating as much as them. She said that she was giving large portions of her meals to the men and peasants, saying that she shouldn't eat so much when others were eating so little. Unuist approved of her temperance.
Back at home, a plan approved by Unuist was going off without a hitch.
Weeks ago, Unuist gave sanction to raid and destroy his cousin's warehouse and dockyard. He did so in order for him to assert hiss power over him, a sort of show of force to solidify his rule. Of course his kinsman was mad, but he wasn't piping up as much, knowing that his words and actions against Unuist would carry hefty consequences.
Unuist was now in Reims, a county that would soon be under his control. He set siege to the castle there, a castle soon to be his. It was funny. Destroying this castle in order to own it. He wondered about the weird system he lived in, about the structure and the 'rules'. It was all weird really, but it was the weird that he had to live with. So he set on with sieging the castle.
The castle had just fell when he heard that the French were organizing one last army to throw at them. The biggest chunk was marching through Vermandios. So Unuist went and met them.
To Unuist, it was not a big battle. But it turned out to be the most important in the war The battle that made the French king realize that there was no hope left in winning. Days later, a letter of surrender arrived to Unuist. Days later, the French King arrived in Vermandios, his capital, to agree to the terms of surrender. The day after, the war was over.
Unuist had won.
