Changes: Catalonian leaders and monarchs were added. CB Shields on Valencia, Catalana, Gerona and Roussilon added. Civil War begins in Spain after annexation of Granada.
Catalana AAR I: A birth of new Nations.
Many years, Aragonian tyrants have ruled free people of Catalana. We still did not rebel, but later, when Ferdinand has come to power, and unite Aragon with Castile, our people really become frustrated. When Castilians force Catalonian children to joins their army, which was already a last wrong! Special council has come to solution: we must rebel when there will be some kind of army unrest. In 1492, January 12, Granada campaign begined. In February 15, Grenadian King capitulates, and accepts Spanish ownership over Grenade. But this victory was actually a disaster for Spaniards – their armies rebel (they loose their jobs), and citizens of some northern cities begin famous “Peasant Revolt” Here lays a chance for me and other Catalonians – we also rebel! 10 thousands men army has been collected under Baron Charles of Gerona, other 10 – by strategy and tactics theoretic Mondragon. Meanwhile, rebel army has slayed all their commanders, including El Gran Captain. Spanish government under Ferdinand I begin to recruit troops in loyal provincies. Civil War begun in Spain. In March 1, 10 more thousands of Catalonians join Charles. Loyalist main base was Cadiz, so we were able to prepare defense until enemy will arrive… Still, enemy garrisons besieged. Each month, new and new peasants join our army. Good news has arrived from far Sicily – peasants in Eastern Sicily (Messina) also rebel. In May, French declare support of our case, through we still don’t believe that. England support Spanish, and new war begin in western Europe. In August 28, Gerona falls to Charles, and our case has made other step to victory. He was free to besiege Barcelona. But he decided to help Roussilon revolt, that will make northern border more defended, and that will gain more supporters. I was against his plan, but I didn’t wanted to tell him about that – we need that general! In October 28, Mondragon has showed his genius. He proclaimed that he capitulates, and enters into fortress to make peace. When enemy opens gates, his soldiers quickly slays enemy main army, and he takes Barcelona. Catalonian homeland is free, but we still need to force Spanish to recognize our independence. Meanwhile, 30 thousands hungry peasants besiege Madrid. Spain neared it’s first and marginal defeat. In 1493, in middle of New Year celebrations, new explosion begins as Ferdinand sends loyalist army to robber Churches. All Spanish territories expect some new colonies in Americas rebel. In January 16, last loyalist victory occurred at Cartagena, when with big looses, Loyalists occupy Murcia. Later, in begining of February, war ended. Sardinia (so called “New Spain”), Serbian Emirate (just a new name for Grenade), Toledo Emirate, Eastern Sicily (and prepare, now something really good!) and Catalana! I was appointed as his National Manager, but soon, I become of greatest leaders of Nation – Catalana! Yellow and red stripes forever! By the way, I must to tell you – French did help us, they send their modern weapons and money (I added 500,000 ducats to Catalana, as sign of French economical help) to us, and I think about alliance with them. Also, they send us 8 ships to build our navy. Rober is our Flotilla Admiral. My first action as politic was promotion of Barcelona Bailiff. Btw, I just understood that French love us (+120 total relations with French)! Charles has ordered me to conquer Roussilon. Also, we enter Alliance with France. In March 1494, French Alliance has declared war on Austrian alliance. We honor alliance, but we don’t want to go any where right now. In short, we form our nation…
