I'm playing as Sweden in the GC (is this what it's called in English?.
In 1492 I had a permanent Casus Belli (spelled like that?) towards Denmark and Russia but later on my permanent Casus Belli was gone but they have a permanent Casus Belli towards me now (maybe already from the start). Why? Or do I remember it wrong?

If they did gain a permanent CB against you, you have probably taken some of their core provinces... The provinces they have a Casus Belli on. Like you had one on them for Denmark occupying Gotland for example.

Nothing is wrong.

You have CB on them becaue they hold a province that Sweden believe belongs to her, so If you declare war on them your stability wouldn't drop.
It seems that you already took their province so now they have a great excuse to DOW(declaration of war) on you....

Permanent CB are permanent untill they are gone CBs don't last when the reason for it is gone. Either no more trade banned, no more CRC vs. protestants, no more core provinces held by that nation and so on.

So this means that their CB towards me doesn't expire until they have taken back all the provinces I have got in peace agreements, even if it wasn't me who started the war?

Yup, if you have taken one of the provinces they consider theirs, they will hold that CB untill they have taken the province back... Same for you, if they take one of yours, you will hold that CB till you take it back... Never mind about it, I don't think they will DoW you every 5 years

It doesn't matter who started the war, the CB is caused by the fact that YOU are holding a province that they regard as their own.
However do not be alarmed if you are strong enough they wouldn't DOW on you probably.
I'm currntly holding half of europe and EVERYBODY has a CB on me... . SO what???

The only plusses of CB provinces are that they won't revolt when conquered and that you won't receive a BB penalty for declaring war upon he owner

Does this mean that I can trick an enemy in a peace agreement and give him a worthless province he has taken, just to be able to declare war on him now and then without getting decreased stability?

Well in some way it is cheating... But you don't HAVE to exploit the game engine flaw... Only annex your CB provinces and you haven't cheated... tada.

But does the AI use this "cheating" trick?

The AI cannot think - so if it uses it, it's probably accidental.

They do so from time to time... But sooner or later they stop it and take their CB provinces... Good example is Sweden in my recent games...
