Not realy. Doing nothing mean being killed by england-burgundy alliance.
But i think that expanding in europe is better way to do france a superpower. Also i ussualy don't take QFTNW and manage to colonize some land anyway... And if i would not colonize atb. in multiplayer, i think i would not manage to colonize 1 province, so just no. As france if you want to have colonies, your best bet is to let others colonize, and then steal their colonies. In such way, you don't waste much money, and gain much. Or just forget the colonization, and go crushade, and after that go to india - the other way
