I get all these notices that Count XXX and courtier YYY were caught doing the nasty.

I used to ignore these warnings, exposing them if I felt like it. Then I noticed that my sweet wife was sometimes succumbing to the temptations of a noble with seduction focus.

Now I pay attention, noting who these hormone-soaked jokers are since they are a threat to my name, honor, and future generations of my family.

So now any males who get caught and have seduction focus are excommunicated, imprisoned, and castrated. This seems like a just punishment for not being able to keep their pants on.

Alternatively, you could turn AI seduction focus game rule off
I second this. I keep AI intrigue on, but turn off AI seduction. Some characters still become lovers and a lord can have a kid with your wife, they just don't have the focus to choose from and thus drive many lords to becoming sex maniacs. I very rarely use it myself and there's still lots of flings happening with lustful or hedonist traits.

That's what I love about this game - RL emotions come into it when they really shouldn't. If you look at it rationally then some nobody shtupping your wife should make less than no difference to you. In fact, it should actually be a bonus - so long as the kid is treated as yours then who gives a hoot who the "real" father is (genetics aside of course) ? More sex means more chances that your wife will give you a legitimate heir.

The above being said, PDX has a done a great job of making us all feel that there really is something wrong with it. Take away the hard facts and it "feels" like our wife is being unfaithful to us, and that produces all sorts of emotions in players from rage and hostility, to shame and impotence (figuratively speaking).

I suppose CK2 is the one one safe space where it is okay to imprison your wife's lover and have him tortured, castrated and thrown into a bottle dungeon, or to shaming your wife and banishing her from your house and realm.

Yeahhhhhhh...no. Some peasant revolt leader in Ireland isn't going to waltz into a Karling party and seduce princesses. I'm all for the drama the game has to offer, even the bedroom politics, I just think seduction as a focus is a bit to much. I'd prefer if Seduction focus became a Hedonist focus. Increased hedonist activity could then be used to seduce people at some point. I dunno.

I tend to leave it enabled as an option. However, any AI that takes it in my realm is probably getting arrested the first time I have (or can make) an excuse.

.

There are real downsides to that, though. I'm usually trying to breed to preserve traits. I generally have those traits and their lovers don't. Sometimes their lovers even have bad traits that could get introduced. The lover opinion bonus also makes it a lot easier for their lover to get them to join plots against you.

Also, and I think this is mostly an issue if you are a vassal, but the game records the "real" father and I have seen events that expose that in later generations giving your lord an excuse to imprison and revoke (though how much of that is real and how much of it is just slander I'm not sure). I've never had it happen to me when I was independent.
