- Andalusía, Gibraltar and Murcia: wrong religion (although I think it reflects an abstraction);that means less money for research.
- Leaders: IMHO underrated and some not present. It´s funny for example to see La Palice in France, and not finding the old Duke of Alba (the father of the Great Duke of Alba), who defeated him.
- Some events which include the military reforms of 1495, the ones of the Gran Capitán and the creation of the Tercios (1531): should boost land research. The historical guns manufactory in Toledo could as well help.

Age of Exploration DP´S and technology levels initial situation seems fairly corrrect (I would move one notch more to quality), but hardly achievable in the GC.

That seems awfully good. A 5 in EU equals just below a genious. Though I wouldn´t know, I don´t know jack shit about the Duke actually.

I would suggest 4/3/3 for the 2nd Duke of Alba.

He won the war of Navarra (1512) and also, with the Gran Capitán, the war of Granada. Served successfully also in Italy and Flanders.

And of course a 6/6/6/1 for the Gran Capitán (everybody knows I´m a big supporter of Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba)

- García Álvarez de Toledo (dead in 1472): 1st Duke.
- The Old Duke of Alba (dead in 1531): 2nd Duke - 4-3-3.
- The Great Duke of Alba (dead in 1582): Jemmingen, conquest of Portugal, Mühlberg, Malinas, Haarlem, etc., etc. He is the one of Egmont and Horn and the Defy of Utrecht: present in EU. Could be a 5-5-6, something like this.

The 4rth Duke, although he fought in Malinas with his father, was forced to abandon Spain, due to his continuous love adventures...

Ok, thanks alot! But what about García? Say that I wanted to put him in too, (which I do, anything to help out Castile/Spain) what stats could I use then? Sorry, but I don´t know that much about Spanish history.

I for one like beefing up the Spanish leader file. From what I've been able to find on my own, by comparison to the French most of the values look reasonable, save Farnese. Count Tilly was Farnese's protege, and supposedly was better than his master, but the current stats for Parma don't give much room to grow unless we go to 7.

Parma is the Überleader of the second half of the XVI century. I personally think Tilly was far worse.

Malinas, Maastricht, Courtrai, Breda, the siege of Amberes ("the masterpiece of the sieges"), etc., etc. The campaign for Henry IV.

And remember he was very ill from 1589, and kept on fighting, and winning, a two fronts war.

Spain isn't behind in techs. No latin tech group countries are really behind in techs. If you want a country that is behind in techs, play an American country, or at least a sub-Saharan African one.
