Look guys. Everyone knows that Columbus brought horses back from America in 1089. That's why there shouldn't be any cavalry in the game when it starts -- it's so unhistorical. He brought to America the technology to make music recordings on records, which is why they didn't have those in Europe until the modern age. Columbus took them all and gave them to the leader of the Cherokee tribe. The Cherokee, unfortunately, buried them in one of their massive mounds as a tribute to their sun god Ra. Until Edison found them in 1792, recorded a Jenny Lind opera, and brought us all recorded music.
