I believe this is because they are wanting to turn up ahead. Try adding another exit to the same location on the oppisite side of the road and delete the other one. See if they switch to the other side of the road.

I still support he idea of there being a bug. I had a 6-lane one way street, connection into another 6-lane one way street in a t-junction. All cars use the right most lane. It should not be very complicated kind of junction.

current they are using the "turning lane" as soon as possible. So if all of them wanted to turn right, they will get in line at the next free place ;)

Have same problems with my industrial area to the highway, 3 lane road to highway, but all of them want to use the right line to enter the highway. no one would drive around the block to enter the highway from the other side because it is longer.

Looks like the same AI "BUGS" they had in SimCity before changing priority from distance to speed.

Yes please allow them to change lanes then back again to reduce the build up. AI should be a lot smarter than this.
The AI in Cities in Motion 2 was pretty awful so I don't know why you expected anything better. :p

Apparently the pathfinding in this game is too direct when it comes to turning lanes. I would suggest that the devs make the second and/or third lanes turning lanes as well to compensate for now.
