Hi All,

Two little questions. I believe I read in the manual that mechanized and armored divisions can carry a quarter of an infantry div with them at their full speed, so for every 4 mec/arm in an army 1 inf can be carried. I couldn't get this to work, though: I formed an army with 10 mec and 2 inf, which moved at the speed of the inf, and only sped up when I left them behind. Was I missing something?

Also, when one is granted military access by a neutral country, does the access extend to one's allies?

Thanks!
John

Most of the things you read in the manual is a lie.
Also, when one is granted military access by a neutral country, does the access extend to one's allies?
No.

Wasn't there a thread so that the hints and tips that poped up were also accurate? I know I saw one when I bought the game because something wrong with the hints and tips.

Mech/pz can not carry inf. In general keep all units in same corps and do not mix them. Mech/Pz can be combined because they are hard targets. When inf and Pz are in the same corps, either you let your inf die in a long battle or you pull the corps out, meaning that your Pz are leaving the battlefield.

Military access is country specific and does not apply to allies. You could probably move exp. force there just like your own. But military access is an exploit which you do not need to use to succeed in the game. Military access is granted way too much and it covers everything while historically it was very rare and very limited as to what you could do with it.

Military Access

A quick response to the above quote.

The United Kingdom, had to have given military access to Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Free French, Poland, and United States since they all at one time or another had military units in there territory! Most not as expeditionary forces. Now the French must have granted military access to United Kingdom since they retained control of there military units in 1940. The Germans also must have had military access to Italy since they command there own military units in North Africa, and Europe later. How did the Italians make it to Soviet Union etc. So my concusion is that military access was grated widely during WWII. Yes the game does not allow more limited control of were, when and why military access is given. The buildup of military units in United Kingdom for D Day, and the computer player giving Southampton province to USA is a way to get around it. The supply system in the game is a failure which is why this is done. The convoy system is flawed ships would be returning back to port with any items like resources in there round trip to a port not empty. The new airforce stacking flaw in battle.

Hopefully HOI2 will handle some of these major flaws better we can just wait and see.

By allies during war only. In most cases military access - if given at all - was extremely limited when the countries involved were not actively at war as allies.
