I am playing the latest version of Vic:Rev and decided to give a crack at Spain again. I hadn't played Spain since I was first learning the game. Now, I seem to recall the Carlist Wars bringing about a lot of grief for me the last time. Today I had about 6 provinces in Hispania proper that had a revolt risk with only one revolt breaking out on the mainland and one in Puerto Rico. Is this normal for the revolt to be so weak? This time I went with supporting Isabella rather than Carlos. From looking at the effects, I thought that the results should have the same impact on militancy or is it the liberal constitution and party that pacifies the people?

I don't know so much about this game but a bit about carlist war.

In reality, Carlism only hit in villages but any city (important or not) joined to Carlism moviment. The most of the time carlism hadn't so much sympatizants.

They only were a really threaten for others spain in two period: At first of the first carlist war until Bilbao siege and between 1872 and january of 1875.

Then is normal to appear like revolt more than another thing. Finally, I have to say that althought they were not many people (because the most of them were poor people without money for weapons) in that period they had excellent generals and for that reason they persist and create scare in the rest of spain

In vanilla Revolutions, you're right, the Carlist war is absolutely ridiculous. As Spain, if you choose Isabella, all you get is a little increased militancy. I rarely even got a single revolt from it.

In VIP:R, though, Carlist Spain is actually a different country and has its own territory. You could say it's sort of modeled as the ACW is in the game as well. It works much better, although Spain almost always beats the Carlists. There are a number of events that make the conflict more interesting, as well.

in any VIP i play, carlist are easily defeated by the spanish crown

... and if you play as Carlist Spain, then Spain is easily defeated too - just requires reinforcing your existing units really.

Also, it is undoubtedly true that the First Carlist War in VIP is much better than in vanilla. If you want a better First Carlist War, as well as many more events, etc... then I'd recommend VIP.

Taiping was added to VIP:R as of version 0.2.

It is still being developed, but the basic Taiping Revolution is there, with events for both historical Qing victory and ahistorical Taiping victory.

The Rebellion does tend to include Taiping constantly making peace with China and then going to war again through event though. Taiping always loses, in my games. One time as Britain I funded them constantly and they managed to hold out for a quite a long time though. Many Chinese perished in the war, giving other countries a bigger comparative advantage in population than they normally would have had.

In VIP as the UK I also tried to help out the revolters. I sent them lots of units of regular troops. They held out for quite a while and gained a lot of territory, but it was dangerous for my troops as they couldnt reinforce and I had to keep on bringing them home, when China would retake land. Then I got in a major war elsewhere and had to take the troops away. They fell pretty quick after that. Will have to try again, and send them even more troops! I guess the answer is to declare war on China myself and help them out that way (conquer from their lands through alliance or something).
