I'm sitting here watching the cargo station..

It's design is rather horrible..

I would love it if. There was 2 parts to it with the tracks down the middle.

One part would be for inbound traffic and the other for out bound.

When they enter the warehouse boom that's them unloaded instantly and fill up again instantly and off on there way again..

This current one is just took slow.

There are some improvements that might be made, I think so too.

A manual setting for the number of available cargo trains on intracity rails would be a nice feature.

Adjusting the budget doesn't seem to impact cargo train spawning.

Cargo trains have a tendency of spawning by the dozen on inner city lines in large cities having three or more stops.
I'd be interested to see an extended clip of an unmodded (ps4) intracity train line with at least three stations in a city with a population over 60k that isn't eventually clogged with two dozen or more engines after some days of running.

Tbh I don't even think they work.. I connect them up to my industry and shops..

But it doesn't seem to ease traffic at all..

I keep this line separate from out side lines.

But train traffic gets mad later down the line.

Perhaps you could test that. And have a little fun doing it.

In a fresh tile fully separate from your economic tile on your test map you could draw out in the four corners 5x5 blocks with cross streets and zone them HR, HC, I, and O, respectively.

At first link the four by straight roads in an orderly and like fashion.

HR--O
|-----|
HC--In

You could import people with an airfield.

After the four squares are zoned and built and there is stable traffic of whatever intensity on the roads, build along the connecting roads a cargo train line between HC and I, and a similar passenger line between HR and C. You might change the lines departure and destination between the other combinations too, or make three stop lines at that point.

At which point you can observe the train behavior in a town where all the trucks and cars are presumably built internally and no goods ever entered or exited besides what's in people's bags at the airport. A real bootstrap community, lol.
