Cargo ships with no ferry terminals?

I can't seem ton get Cargo ships working. I have a Cargo harbor. Do I also need to have a ferry terminal. I thought they were separate.

Do you see cargo ships go through your map? They should also be there without any harbor.

Also, which point in city development are we talking about? What map?

Edit: I guess "ferry terminals" is an error (at least in game jargon). You probably meant the passenger harbor?

I saw one cargo ship pass by. I'm trying to offload forest products to cargo ships. I see forest trucks going to the Cargo Harbor, but no ships seem to stop by.

The map is Honu Island (I think). My pop is a bit over 20,000.

I meant Ferry Depot in game jargon.

Am I correct in assuming there are 3 varieties of ship transport, Cargo(import/export), Ferries(transport within your city) and Passenger Harbors(people in/out of city)?

Ferries are part of Mass Transit DLC and you have to set up a line like you would a bus line. they don't work the same as cargo/passenger harbours. Ferries do not produce traffic until you set up dedicated lines.

Ferries are for transportation within your map. To get traffic froom outside, you need harbours for cruise ships and cargo harbours for the container ships.

It was my fault. I did not understand lines and paths. It's working now.
