The Washington Post's Gene Park, for one, He has regularly called out game developers for restrictions on preview copies and publications for imposing unreasonable article deadlines, going so far as to publish articles months after a game's release after his opinion changed after playing a game fully.Show me a journalist talking about a game, that wasn't payed to say what he did, and had actual constructive criticism and not just being a yes-man
I mean that's the point of a discussion, and they didn't really totally misunderstand did they, a lot of things are missing, so they did some speculations. And is it possible to fundamentally misunderstand a thing about we barely know how it works?I’ll go back and finish it later then. They fundamentally misunderstood what’s going on in with Admin Capacities at the point I shut it off, though.
were you expecting a paradox video?Okay, I just listened to that Nurse Reno guy say that developers answering questions is a “corporate trick” meant to “overload you with information” so you don’t notice POPs aren’t really POPs.
Sorry, these guys are dumbasses.
I think he just likes to read corporate statements carefully crafted to not insult anyone and thinks paradox have placed the desires and happiness of consumers in the first place, or maybe a paid content creator to just say good thingswere you expecting a paradox video?
I was expecting that people purporting to be breaking down Vicky 3 to have, you know, made some attempt to actually read up up on Vicky 3?were you expecting a paradox video?
Yeah, but he says himself that it's a tinfoil idea. If that's too much for you, you can just skip this discussion, it's not mandatory.Okay, I just listened to that Nurse Reno guy say that developers answering questions is a “corporate trick” meant to “overload you with information” so you don’t notice POPs aren’t really POPs.

we do a enormous amount of tomfooleryThis is a weird, weird thread.
and they have read up the material that has been provided, namely the dev diaries and dev comments.I was expecting that people purporting to be breaking down Vicky 3 to have, you know, made some attempt to actually read up up in Vicky 3?
That’s one word for itwe do a enormous amount of tomfoolery
What's his last article on any paradox game? I can't find any. Genuinely interetedThe Washington Post's Gene Park, for one, He has regularly called out game developers for restrictions on preview copies and publications for imposing unreasonable article deadlines, going so far as to publish articles months after a game's release after his opinion changed after playing a game fully.
And if you want to go independent, there is of course James Stephanie Sterling.
I'm not opposed to skepticism, I just expect that if a panel purports to be a panel of experts, they should actually know what they're talking about and not think that an admin building had no connection to the POPs working in it or the broader economy.Yeah, but he says himself that it's a tinfoil idea. Just remember, thatoverconfidencehype is a slow and insidious killer. Seriously, with the amount of hype Vic3 have gathered after all the time we waited for it, i kinda doubt it will satisfy everyones wild imaginations. A little bit of skepticism won't hurt.
Better than to just think everything will be great, and all this capacities work almost as mana. I would like to avoid another imperator launch situationNear the beginning they talk about how the originally released screenshots hid the capacities because the developers knew that if people saw a bird symbol next to a number in a screenshot with zero context they would flip the f*** out, and how Paradox is bad evil and wrong for doing this, but uh... are they though? Sounds like showing bird+number with no explanation would have been a pretty piss poor idea if you ask me.
Anyways, the whole thing was filled with a lot of cynical wankery. Picking apart every sentence of the diary. Everything Paradox tells us is just to 'distract us'. And everything not said in the diary is obviously because Paradox is going to do <insert terrible idea> and they don't want us to know yet.
In what way do capacities act like mana?Better than to just think everything will be great, and all this capacities work almost as mana
You said games journalist, I gave you games journalists. Sadly strategy games are already a niche as they are, and Paradox even moreso, and don't get much coverage even in mainstream media. We need more journalists covering strategy games and journalists who are interested in strategy games in mainstream media. Part of that, however, is encouraging people who are interested in talking about and reviewing strategy games to go into journalism and to pursue it as a career and not falsely generalizing all games journalists as bought off or stigmatizing professional journalism or major publications as a whole. What's his last article on any paradox game? I assumed since this is a paradox forum, that you will think I'm talking about their genres. And I wasn't trying to attack you or anything, but every game journalist witting about their games, that I've seen, has always praised them, even for some of their worst decisions they did, and their articles were always so genericYou said games journalist, I gave you games journalists. Gene Park even has a recent article about that where he criticizes the industry for this exact kind of thing, though from a different and more general angle. Understanding that genres are different and not every gamer is interested in every game so you should have journalists who are actually interested in a different variety of games is important. But part of that is that people interested in those games, especially more obscure ones, need to actually go into journalism instead of just sneering at it.
