So, I control enough lands to usurp the Sultanate of Africa, but the I can't because it says the holder is at war. However, he is not at war. He was, but now the war is over. Is this a bug or am I missing something? Here's some screenshots:
Probably because Holy Wars are an ezmode CB, allows you to swallow the newly independent realms without nearly as much truce breaking.
Fatamids are king tier. If they decided to make Africa their primary title over Egypt, Nothing much you can do. I highly doubt Fatamids are emperor tier. AI rarely ever make empires, let alone the Arabian Empire.
Also Caliphates are actually duke tier.
Look at the caliph's title list next time you're in game. The actual caliphate title is a titular duchy (like all religious heads except the Papacy), but as a secular title it passes by the inheritance law of the holder's primary title, which can be anything (in theory; in practice they're restricted by Islam to Agnatic Open). Contrast with theocratic titular titles like the Papacy or a reformed pagan high priesthood (other than the Fylkirate), which override the normal inheritance law of the holder's other title(s).Caliph is emperor tier for muslims, but that is different from the Sunni Caliphate and Shia Caliphate, the religious heads, are duke tier.
So basically in the 1066 start the Fatamids are Sultans, king tier. But they possess the Shia Caliphate.
The Seljuks are also King tier iirc, and their vassals the Abbasids in Babylon posess the Sunni Caliphate.
Neither are actually empires though if I remember correctly (I play Charlemagne these days) but I know for sure Fatamids are almost always king l just because the Arabian Empire is one of the most tedious empires to form, even for players.
