Can't start the game on steam

Hi! As the title says, I can't start the game on Steam. The only way to start the game is by starting it from the installed folder. This mean that I can't play mods, since I can't get that window to start. As soon as I open CK2 in Steam, it crashes.

I have already uninstalled both the game and steam and reinstalled everything again, however that didn't help at all. Anyone else who has had this problem, or have any solution for the problem?

All the other games work fine from steam..

What if you manually start the launcher, ck2game.exe - does that work? If so you can run mods through there.

No, that doesn't work either, same crash if I try that.

OK, you probably have a .NET problem, since the launcher uses that but the game itself does not. As a start visit the Windows Update site and allow it to update everything it wants to.

I have the exact opposite problem. I can only start CK 2 FROM Steam. If I use ck2-game.exe or ck2.exe file, the ingame store is greyed out and DLC:s are not installed and cannot be accessed. Although if I start a game from Steam, ingame store is accessible and DLC:s are installed and accessible. It doesn't make sense!

Windows Update can't find any files that needs to be upgraded. The launcher works fine for EU3, if that helps to figure out what could cause the problem?


EDIT: If i choose to run the launcher as administrator, it works fine. So now I can at least start some mods, but still pretty strange...
