Hi,

As subject states, I have a problem with sending merchants. I own the CoT in Technotitlan (I am Spain/Castile in a 1.05 GC). For over 200 years, I was able to compete away any and all merchants that were sent from other nations.

Now, 5 merchants from Eire have appeared. Eire is a vassal of France. The problem is, the <Send merchant> button is grayed out :( I can't compete my merchants against those of Eire.

No, I haven't got a trade agreement with Eire. I haven't one, period. I also can't boycott Eire. That diplomacy option is grayed out.

This is highly annoying. It is costing me almost 300 in lost revenues.

And you think this is because Eire is a vassal? What leads you to that conclusion? Anyway, send me along a save showing the problem please. Zip up the .eug and .eug.cfg files and email to ataubman@ducros.com.au , along with a link to this thread, your forum Nick, and what steps I need to do to duplicate the issue. Thanks.

Yes, I thought it was because Eire was a vassal. It was weird enough to save the situation in a special save game, just for the purpose of showing the problem.

However, there now appears to be a different problem. I have reloaded this save game, to create the steps to reproduce. To my amazement, the 5 merchants are no longer there :eek:

They were definiately there at the time I saved this particular game at that particular point in time. The rollover hint even told me that Eire was earning the 300 ducats. I have no idea what happened.

Visually, they were there at the time. Both the rollover hints for Eire's merchants and my monopoly indicated so. Now, after the reload, they have vanished. If the <send merchant> button is tied to the same state as the save/reload code, I can understand why it was grayed out.

In short, it seems that this particular problem is not reproducable after all. :(

No, doesn't sound like it will show us anything of use. The merchants of Eire must have appeared there through some anomaly, but unless we can tie down how to trigger that anomaly there's not much we can do.
