Hello everyone, just dusted off CK2 after it had been sitting unused for years in my Steam list - along with all the DLC. I did play a bit back when CK2 was first released, after that just mostly EU4.
So I start a game on tutorial island as Mumu, and start going through the things to do before unpausing the game. I noticed that my council was less than ideal so I decided to shuffle things around a little - I figured that the relation maluses would fade over time and it'd be nice to have a tweaked council from the get-go.
I had to kick out three people in total - two powerful vassals (chancellor and steward) and one meaningless courtier from the chaplain's job. My former steward would've become the chaplain (he is a bishop), former chancellor would've become the steward and I found a relative with literally twice the skill in diplomacy to take the chancellor's job.
But once I had kicked all the replaceable people out of the council so I can start the shuffle, I noticed that I couldn't give my two former councilors - the aforementioned powerful vassals - their new jobs! They aren't in the list at all! Why is this? The seats are empty and they demand positions, is there a hidden waiting period or something? The wiki mentions nothing like that, at least.
