Can't marry Khazar heir, even with betrothal, because he's a mercenary - WAD?

This has happened more times than I can count in this playthrough. I go to the Khazars looking to secure an alliance with a spare daughter, and I find that all of the Khagan's sons and brothers are merc captains. Same for all his vassal khans.

Even when I've arranged a betrothal beforehand, I can't finalize the marriage until the son ends his merc career, which might not happen until he inherits the realm.

This feels really wonky and off to me. Is this WAD? Or is it just an oversight in the process of implementing the mercenary son system in Horse Lords?

It's because Mercenary captains cannot be married. I suppose being a Captain overrides the betrothal.

I know that, sorry if I didn't make that obvious in the OP.

My point is that this aspect of the mercenary system shouldn't have been brought over when the sons-as-mercs feature was added.
