Can't Install Rome:Gold

I have just acquired Rome: Gold for the first time but am unable to install. I run the autoplay and then click install. It comes up with the little window about initialising demoshield then nothing. No error message it just fails to progress further. Restarting fails to change the situation.

Due to a slightly temperamental and slow home internet connection I opted to download Rome on to a work computer and then transferred the Gamersgate Temporary files folder to USB and then to my computer. Could the problem be related to this? Have I lost a critical file that is contained elsewhere than the temporary files folder? Will I have to download again on my own computer or is there an easier fix?

This is really more of a question for GG than us, their support is at support@gamersgame.com . But yes, I would try downloading it on your target computer first (after deleting the files you copied there) to check the situation before you do that.

If you install Rome on your work Pc,and then copy the folder to your home pc, it should work.

I'm having the same exact problem except i'm using a CD i purchased... Any help with that? I've looked over the forums and I can't find anything...

It's either a faulty CD or a faulty PC. Try that CD in another machine.

Does update server problem prevent installation?
I also just acquired Rome:Gold but see little point in uninstalling standard version while "page not found" on patch splash screen at game lauch.
Both Rome and HOI3 exhibit same server problem.
Searches in tech forum are also broken.

Don't think so,
If you have gamersgate version, you must log in to gamersgate before you can install.
