Can't get enough piety to reform religion

So, I'm trying to reform the Romuvian faith. (Started as Haestinng of Nantes, took over Lithuania ^.^)
I have ALL FIVE holy sites, and have held them for a long time. I've built two temples, and won multiple holy conquests. I've also raided almost constantly sacking temples (dunno if this does anything for piety).

My problem is I can't get enough piety. The closest I've been to 750 is 500, and that was on my king who actually lived to old age. I avoid spending it all costs. I think the only time I spent any was to execute a dude who was a serious problem, and that was only 20 piety.

What am I doing wrong? Are my kings just not living long enough?

You can gain piety by raiding infidels, releasing prisoners of your religion, granting priests titles, using the "Build Zeal" option with your priest, and winning county conquests.

I've reformed Romuva. I'm the richest empire in the world, once you reform you're in the position to steam roll. Especially if Pannonia, Rus, Ruthenia, Bohemia, and Pomerania are weak.

Sergeant Flutter hit the nail on the head, though probably the easiest way to get piety out of all of your options is just to go raiding. You may have flipped religions, but raiding is still very viable- especially if you kept Norse culture for the cheap boats. Go ransack the Mediterranean and you'll receive piety equal to the amount of gold you brought back. Do this several times with a full load of loot and you should be golden.

Can't pagan tribals also build temples in counties with no temples? That should let you turn cash into piety (at the cost of not getting the free temples when you switch to feudal).

I've never done a Romuva playthrough, do they get a decision equivalent to the Germanic "hold great blot"? If they do you can earn a lot of piety sacrificing prisoners.

Romuva, Slavic, Suomenusko, and Zunists all have a religious festival (Uzgavenes in the case of Romuva) that grants 100 piety and prestige.

If he started as Haesteinn, it's a fair bet he's already feudal.

If you already have all five holy sites, the piety or MA requirement should not even be there. Just click religion tab and smack that white button.

Best way to get Piety with said pagans is to run those festivals as often you can and swap to theology focus and it should give you plenty of events for small piety gains.

Festivals are a great thing for pagans. They let you convert 50 in cash to 100 prestige and 100 piety, plus give a small relationship boost to all your same-religion direct vassals (at least, those who aren't imprisoned). But only the Germanic pagans get to sacrifice prisoners.

But the piety and MA requirements ARE still there even if you control all 50 Holy Sites, or at least they are in my games. I'm not 100% sure that's WAD, but the tooltip seems to say it is, which makes sense, because if you're an impious jerk, your clergy probably aren't going to be interested in following your lead in reforming the faith. Though if you control all 5 sites, the MA should be pretty close to automatic unless your faith has been really screwed over in some way.

If you control all 5 holy sites the minimum moral authority threshold is gone, not the piety cost.

Ok, was not aware piety cost had been changed. Getting it with religious feasts has never been an issue for me
