Come on paradox, seriously?

my daughter was recently made a concubine by some upstart duke who won a revolt,
i then get a event saying that Duke bla bla bla has made my daughter a concubine and that he will pay for it.

yet i cant do anything about it? hows he suppose to pay if i cant do anything about it !
this should lead to a blood fued !

i wanna house Reyne his ass !!!

ck2_1.png

and dont tell me i could simply fabricate a claim, because i dont want his land.

there should be a rescue relative CB.

its so hard to roleplay when crap like this happens.

Well from the RP perspective, declaring war on someone who has your daughter at his mercy doesn't sound like a great way to rescue her...

You can try to rescue her with intrigue focus, even though she's not technically a prisoner.

Both fair points. I guess I was just thinking of the fact that you already can't declare war on someone who has one of your kids prisoner, and that it would be weird given that to specifically allow wars in the case of a different kind of captivity.

Maybe in both cases such a CB should exist for those willing to accept the consequences.

Totally agree with OP 100% !

Short an official fix my suggestion would be to mod in a new CB type that applies to a concubine or prisoner that localises the war to the lord and frees the target if the war goal is met. IIRC CB modding also includes the option to re-weight winning battles and sieges for warscore, you can also set a higher starting warscore to make the war quicker (or slower - looking at you Helen of Troy !).

Success should free the target character and move them to your court and give you much prestige and improved relations with the target and all of their close family members, as well as a bitter rivalry with the losing lord. Failure would see you have to pay the usual reparations and make you a loser in the eyes of your vassals and family, white peace would see minor penalties to prestige and maybe minor malus with the target lord.

By linking the CB to any character that is a concubine OR a prisoner you could also use it to free imprisoned family members, Friends, betrotheds etc. Hell, if you made it targettable against ANY character you could use it to gain hostages - imagine being able to target a rivals wife, win the war and force her into your court. Of course he could then simply try to declare war on you to win her back . . .

I figure that if having a wife taken concubine turns her into a defiled taboo abandoned where she is, having a daughter or sister forcibly taken by heathen scum would equally stain her too strongly to want back. By presented game-logic, of course.

At the very least, having close kin forcibly taken into concubinage should at least insta-Rival, much like being caught in an affair does.

Yeah, as in - "You stole my goods and that's theft. At the very least I want compensation, I may also want you punished, but you can keep the goods because they're broken and no longer fit for sale any more."

You know, while I agree that should grant you a CB, this is a great opportunity to add intrigue events. There should be an option to plan a rescue with the intrigue focus. I'd love to go through an event chain like that. Maybe give you some options to try to take revenge during the rescue mission.
