I started in Sicily and have been wanting an Empire for some time. Finally came to be, as the Byzantine Empire was destroyed by the mongols, and then in a crusade, I gained all of Greece. I now meet all the requirements listed in the game for being able to create the Latin Empire, yet the button is grayed out.
My religion is Catholic, I own Kaliopolis and Thrake and the Byzantine Empire no longer exists, all confirmed by the buttons in game. I also have the necessary gold and piety, yet the button remains grayed out.
Am I doing something wrong? Does my ruler have to be an adult? He is only 15. I am also at peace if that matters.
-EDIT-
Here is a screenshot, if that helps.

I thought the red meant is was showing you will lose it. So the piety and gold in red means you are losing gold and piety?

From the looks of it, you can't be heresy and you might be a heresy. But i don't know.

being of a heresy doesnt make a difference, it says either: catholic, or catholic heresy
