When in the "traffic" view, you can see the metro trains and passengers below ground. If the metro train is under a building when you try to select it, you can't, you get the building above it instead.
In this example, the mouse pointer (not visible) was where the red arrow is. Note the green highlight around the building above it. That building is selected if clicked, rather than the metro train.
In this example it is easy enough to click where the green arrow is, that would select the metro train, but in dense areas, this can be difficult, often requiring pausing the game at just the right moment when the metro passes a gap.
I propose that since when you are in this view, you are concerned with traffic, not buildings, that buildings should not be selectable, and then any vehicles under them would be easily selected.
