Idk if this is a bug or just an oversight, but I cant seem to build a bridge over a wide canal as it can't place the bridge pillars in the canal.
Anyone else having the same issue?

I initially ran into the same problem with the new wider canals. You need to raise the height of the road leading up to the bridge to 3m or 6m and end it as close to the canal as possible. Turn of all snapping except for road length and then build the bridge 12 grid tiles long. Even then it takes a little bit of trial and error. It would be better if they had a plopable bridge that snaps to the canal like the Ferry buildings do.

I'll try that, the only bridge I managed to plop over the canal was a high way though thus far, and it completely ruined my OCD :'(
Hope they fix this in a future update.

Sadly canals are still an underused element in the game. The ferry system is fine but the original base game ferry lines & terminals remain outwith our control- all a bit half baked. Some parts of the upgraded road building tools are great but the difficulty in reading the % angle clearly and lack of additional units of measurement are downright frustrating- still a need to use precision engineering mod

As part of my Yin Yang City project, the Yang City made extensive use of different canal systems and this was just before the Canals n Quays update. Therefore I created my canals using a variety of Workshop assets. Nevertheless, as you can see, it was possible to use a variety of different bridge types over all of the canals I built.
