Cannot start CKII

I just bought a new PC with AMD FX-8350 processor and Windows 7 pro, installed all the updates and latest drivers.
I have CK II on my library and it will not start.
What could the problem be?

I already tried this without success.

Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\crusader kings ii\DX\ and run dxsetup.exe
Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\crusader kings ii\ and run vcredist.exe

Hi, I have the same problem and tried the same solution. However, when trying to run the second item ( C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\crusader kings ii\ and run vcredist.exe ) I get the the following message:

Please resolve the following:

A newer version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable has been detected on the machine.

How do I solve this?

There's nothing to solve - that just means the second one is unnecessary in your case, you already have it.

I'm happy to report that this works for Windows 8.1 (I had a similar issue, though steam didn't perform a first time setup for some reason)
