Not me! I'm the COC and passing out orders to my generals. Unfortunately, my generals know nothing about the economic aspects of war.

If you are doing it manually, couldn't you do like a a rainbow assortment of the front lines?

You won't have units of the same army next to each other, so it may be confusing, but it should work. I split armies like that as Japan, though not as radically as I just suggested.

if you want to fully play manually you can. if you want the bonus you can plan, then hit ctrl+H (sorry memory is in my fingers not head if I got it wrong) to disconnect from the plan and then play manually with the bonus on as they wont follow the order then

I am confused. Has the operation of separate Battle Plan line segments changed in Cornflakes at the Army level?

Or is it just a need for more meticulous re-drawing of BP elements that are close to others so they don't merge?

I guess the issue the OP refers to is that it is not possible to assign eg only some division of an army to section to the front (with CTRL+right click as we used to be able to do before the update) since when trying to do so the frontlines merge. So it is now a choice between either assign a single frontline on the entire border (with the inevitable AI shuffling troops around the border using its internal logic which not always makes sense) or not using the battleplanner at all. I generally use BP to build the bonus than cancel border after executing the battle plan. The only alternative is to create several smaller armies and assign them to a section of the border but with the very limited number of historical generals in the game (for countries like Italy, which is very puzzling) this leads to having ahistorical generals and spending precious political power to create new ones (which again, are random people with random names who never existed and to me totally ruins immersion).

So is it a bug with merging frontlines or is it WAD and we need to have annoying additional micro with mixing lines from diffirent generals to prevent merge? I think we need additional button on generals like *keep position* to disable units shuffle. I think it would be alternative to that strange actions wth frontlines to keep divisions in required province and get planning bonus.

And then division will start loosing planning bonus, so it is a bad solution. We just want keep some ammont of division in province with planning bonus and prevent it from ai shuffle.

Am I the only one that completely ignores plans and just moves divisions to where they actually need to go?

No :)
All those plan things just are bullsh*** imo.

1st) It doesn't work (shuffling of units/fighting against your PC before actually playing the game).
2nd) When it works it works in a stupid way : draw a line further on the front and that's your plan. Great. Unless you are a pro of this "tool" and spend twice the time you need to drive your units yourself.
3rd) It sacrifices the best aspect of the game ever : it's a wargame before all, but now you can watch a fake documentary that behaves idiotly.
4th) If it's all that to get the damn plan bonuses, then just let it alone and challenge will be better as AI never can be as good as a human (decent) brain.

BUT : for MP players it can be a quite practical feature. BUT HoI never has been a MP but SP game by essence.

Still we can keep a bit of hope : devs needed 1 year and a half to understand that players were right to ask for mini-map and drag n' drop, and they eventually implemented it so...
