I am writing this because I am increasingly frustrated by the issue of primary vassals attacking some of my other lower rank primary vassals and making them their vassals instead. E.g. I take Andalucia as a French Emperor, and obviously I would not like to give the rulers of that kingdom too much power (Andalucia is both huge and the kings there tend to Holy War Northern Morocco and expand even further). However, whenever I try to set up a Valencian ot Toledan Duke as a primary vassal of the emperor, the Andalusian kings attack. And despite the fact that their attack is a direct challenge to the emperor, resulting in lost income and a change in feudal contract, I cannot do anything.
Now, I understand why limits on the sovereign intervening in domestic strife exist, and I do agree that a king/emperor should not have the power to freely arbitrate in favour of his favorite vassals. But surely when a war appears that results in a direct reduction of the power of the emperor by one of the vassals, he/she should be directly able to respond? Not necessarily by intervening in the war itself, but possibly by having the option to order the vassal to end the war and force him into either open rebellion or peace (with heavy opinion penalties).
