Cannnot nominate my heir in the Duch of Franconia?

I have set my inheritance laws to Elective so I can choose my heirs. For some reason I cannot choose him, the only ones I can choose is my wife and my vassals. I gave him a county of Worms to see if it works but I still can't nominate him. Any help? I can provide screenshots if needed.

Are you Gavelkind Elective or Feudal Elective?

In my current game, I'm still tribal, and thus still Gavelkind. I can land my heir ... with one county (and, apparently, as many temples as I might wish), but I can't give him a second county, nor a duchy title -- and he is the only son, and only heir, I have.

The particular example I gave isn't germane to your question. However, the gavelkind issue may still be affecting your available decisions.

It might be due to him being in hiding (I don't think this should prevent it, but it is a possibility). For other options I would have to see his character page at least (to check for traits).
If he isn't a part of your realm it could also be the controlled inheritance law.

There is a glitch where you can't nominate your kids if your their parents are also able to be elected. Since your wife can be elected you can't elect your kid.

Oh, well that is a bummer. I guess I'll have to try and assasinate her? I already wanted to kill her since she is the Duchess of Thuringen and my son is the heir to that duchy.
