I've read that agriculture is included in the game, and that it is one of the industry specializations. But in the videos I've seen so far, the grid comes attached to the road, with a fixed 4 tiles depth (= distance to road) everywhere. And I only saw the industrial brush being used to create true industrial zones. (a) How will one create an agricultural zone? and (2) Will it be limited to 4 tiles in depth or will it have free size & shape? (c) What sort of crops will there be? (d) Will there be cattle/porks/lhamas farms?

On a separate topic, I enthusiastically second the request to have beaches, marinas and river banks, as well as giving the mayor some ability to perform terra-forming to create/model waterfront places. This is one of the best aspects of SC4.

BTW, CSL seems a very promising game. :)

Welcome to the forums & community! :)

There will most likely be a developer diary in a not too distant future on this subject, you'll probably have to wait until then to get an answer, sorry!

Hi guys, first time poster here due to enormous interest in Cities: Skylines.

Having thought about what they said about the water system I had this idea that I was hoping get's a bit of attention from the devs.
At the moment the game is very SimCity-ish and Cities XL ish. But it has modding support not as an afterthought which is great and should have massive potential.

But I always believe that every City Sim game forgets the way water shapes our cities. Be it a Marine city, a beach city or a city that has a river flowing right through it.
This screenshot says it all:

No City Sim game pays attention to the shore. Shores, rivers, beaches shape a city to what we know them to be, and I don't think simply adding parks is enough to make a city pretty. Add marina's, plazas, pedestrian only zone.

I have accumulated a few examples on how C:S could expand on the shorelines. Adding a way to build a retaining wall on the river bank, adding ports, marinas and buildings that are able to be closer to the shore.

Dubai dug new rivers to beautify a new development:

Basically as a city gets busier / bigger, the closer the buildings get to the Sea / river to occupy every piece of land possible.

Also will we have beaches? Can it be modded or added as a DLC? Rio de Janeiro style?

This forum should have a "like"-function! Great post! I agree with everything you said.

I've talked about the shoreline earlier, but I think you said it much better than I did.

Speaking of farming, vertical farming would be nice for compact cities.

Vertical farming?

Like this?

Or like this

Or something else?

There are a lot of fanmade mods for Simcity 4 that introduces various types of ploppable seawals.

And talking about Seaside, there is one thing that would be nice to have with the dinamic water system: high and low tides.

Sorry about the offtopic, but what mod did you use to get those roads going under the bridges?
