So when a planet gets enough food a new pop forms on that planet. Can we affect what species that pop is? I was thinking about going to other planets I have conquered and making it a new home for my main species. If the planet had a lower pop total then it would develop new pops quicker.

Could I use purging or migration to make planets have lower totals and then have my main species develop on all added planets?

From what I got from the Blorg stream (after they relocated bridie on Blorg Prime) pops of all species will attempt to grow simultaneously and divide the food output in some manner accordingly. It was stated that having growing bridie pops on Blorg slowed growth of native Blorg.

So when a planet gets enough food a new pop forms on that planet. Can we affect what species that pop is?
No, at least not from what we've seen in the Blorg stream. New POPs were formed automatically from existing ones. When enough empty tiles and food were available, both Blorg AND Sibulan POPs grew at the same time.

I was thinking about going to other planets I have conquered and making it a new home for my main species. If the planet had a lower pop total then it would develop new pops quicker.
Nope, the previous residents would continue to grow as well if there are empty tiles. Maybe unless you enslave them or something, I don't know.

Could I use purging or migration to make planets have lower totals and then have my main species develop on all added planets?
You meant forced resettlement, not migration. But yes, you can vacate the previous residents, but they'll be really pissed off at you. If you forcefully move YOUR own POPs, they'd get pissed off as well. Not to mention both forced resettlement and purging have prohibitive costs or serious consequences.

I'd not like to be able to do that, as I feel.. Well it feels like you're gimping the game in your favor (Why would you EVER choose a foreign pop?)
And well, it doesn't feel immersive.

Of course you would.
That is; If pops in this game would actually amount to manpower. I do that all the time in Victoria - conquer Africa, and convert them all to soldiers.
But that's not a thing here. The only effect you get from having pops of other cultures is to well.. spread annoyance, differing beliefs and effectively create your own faction doom. Which you wouldn't want, so you'd always (unless for "different planets") create your own happy law abiding pops.

@alioli: I got two threads mixed up (the other was about recruiting armies from a single xeno POP), disregard that earlier reply--I thought your post here was in that thread when I switched browser tabs.

You could pick a foreign pop still because they have different skills. Maybe they are better on a certain type of planet, you want to grow some soldier pops, they are better at mining etc.

I would like to have a way to promote my pop on my planet type. I think you should be able to influence what is more likely to grow on a planet. If you purge everyone and relocate some of your citizens, then it should start producing more of your race.

Once all tiles are filled by a complete pop growth halts.

Additionally, if tiles run out and there are multiple species the remainder fill on a first-come-first-served basis, or in the event of multiple being required at the exact same time (an extremely unlikely possibility) simply a percentage chance divided appropriately for which one takes the slot to grow into the last space.

Your food supply is divided evenly such that if there are two species they both grow half as fast.
That seems bad... So multispecies planets are really slow at growing then. It would be better to get the one pop sooner and start reaping its benefits than to have to wait longer.

That's essentially a matter of opinion.
I don't think it is. Imagine a civ game. Is it better for your cities to grow sooner or later? It's better sooner because then u get the benefit of that pop sooner and you are able to snow ball. Now imagine a planet with 8 different species. If it works how you are describing and takes 8 times as long to grow because the food is divided amongst them, that's really bad.

I'd not like to be able to do that, as I feel.. Well it feels like you're gimping the game in your favor (Why would you EVER choose a foreign pop?)

When you've conquered them, they're no longer a foreign pop. They're now your pop. They might have Traits that you need more of. For example, if you have some Natural Engineers and you have an unused planet tile which gives Engineering, then you'd want the Natural Engineers to grow.

Situations where there are tile blockers on a planet or happiness issues might cause you to not want a planet to grow quite so fast.

Sure but that's definitely the exception to the rule. In general you want to grow faster. Like its a positive trait to have faster growth and a negative for the opposite. I don't really see how this is controversial. If something dramatically slows down growth then it's bad.
