The sneak peak appears to be nothing more than a brief demo. I suspect the sneak peak will be released to everyone at a later time and labeled as a demo.

So far I wasn't impressed at all with Magicka 2. The game is clunky, magicks have a cool down, and the game has a few others issues. I own the game already(pre-ordered) and I'm not looking forward to the release anymore. I feel these paradox developers have a lack of understanding of what magicka is all about.

Yeah, casting is seriously clunky compared M:WW and everything(movement, animations) feels unnaturaly slow.

However magicks dont actually have cooldowns if you cast them manualy with elements. Not sure if thats still good though, spamable magicks made the game way too easy before.

Sadly this is not completely true, manually casting magicks still has a cooldown.
What made the first game good was the amount of pure power you had throughout the whole game, yet it was still well balanced to a point that it was a challenge to avoid being overrun or have your magick backfire on you and your friends. Magicka 2 is, from what I have seen of the sneak peek, not that at all; All the elements did way less damage, have smaller AoE, and thanks to the removal of ice and steam elements some of the most powerful spells from Magicka 1 have gone out the window. Challenge maps from the first game had you facing hordes of 20-30 enemies each wave, whereas the map on the sneak peek had less than 10 at least up until round 8 (where I thrown out of the map by a bomb and respawned also off the map unable to move, needs fixing).
Sadly this game seems to have taken more from M:WW than its original, even though the wizard wars mechanics are designed for team pvp not dungeon crawler.
At least the music is nice and the humor is still there (even the "not a vampire" gag that should have stayed in the first game where it belonged)

One thing I'm not happy about is the lack of fall damage. A goblin hit me with a bomb, and I flew right up close to the camera... And survived when I plummeted fifty feet down. People shouldn't be allowed to walk off a fatal attack like that.

In other news, I miss my lightning beams, but weapon casting is much more useful for the most part. You can kill most of the banana mode goblins instantly with just a fire enchanted mallet.

Anyways, I'm having mixed thoughts about this game. I played through Square Tablet and enjoyed it, so I'll like this game too, but many people will probably rate this quite lower than the original game. There are much less bugs though, so I appreciate that for the most part.

I dont think so, the only things they used like from M:WW is so that you dont have steam element and robes.
So the steam element should be introduced back in M2, everything else dosnt even get close to M:WW, but i would like some stuff from M:WW to be put in M2:

Halt button - realy usefull
Swinging weapon with right mouse button if no spells are qued, and casting spells if there are some qued
Rebindable keys - srsly i got to used to M:WW spacebar as selfcast, and some ppl are left handed.

For the weapon attack before there was the push, so i dont see the reason to do it like in WW.
For all of you who think this will make it another WW cuz of stuff i proposed, its just the game mehanics that are usefull and that work in WW and make it such an epic game.

Edit: Oh yeah i forgot they also have taken the cast while walking from M:WW, you have the artifact called Spell weigth if you like the old system.
