So I wanted to try and min/max my favorite species with various anomalies and have a few questions..

Brain slugs - Can you modify your entire species to have this? For whatever reason I have terrible luck with genetic research and always end up with megastructures before getting the tech to modify my own species.

Red/green/blue modification - Again, if I get this early, and it applies the modification to normal humans and not my slugged humans, can I give that trait to my improved species?

Basically trying to figure out how gamey do I need to get. Like finding RGB box and not opening it until everyone is slugged, or if I need to open the box with a slugged leader.

You can't add it to other species, but if you use the species that got the special trait, you can use it as a template and apply it to the rest of your species.
These special traits are free & does not count towards maximum number.

Just make sure to get the slugs & RGB on the same species first.

You should use the rgb anomaly as late as possible so that you get free trait points. If you get biological ascension and give your species things like erudite and fertile and use up all of your points, then add the rgb anomaly, you'll end up with a template of -3/-4 points with more traits c:

I thought those special ones don't take up a trait slot? Not a huge issue for me since I go psionic. I then later try and shift into fanatic materialist for additional challenge. My people will obey :p

The trait from this anomaly neither uses up a trait slot nor a trait point. You can use it whenever you want
