Hi everyone. I am a longtime player of EU3 and I have played EU4 during its initial stages. For so long, I have focused on CK2. This, combined with the cost of the DLCs, dissuaded me from buying the game and its DLCs.

But now, there is a sale on Steam so I bought the Empire Founders Pack. This includes the following DLCs:
Common Sense
Rights of Man
Art of War

I notice that the other DLCs are also on sale. But since I haven't played EU4 in the longest time, I don't know which DLCs are worth it. Can you please help me prioritize from among the following?

Third Rome
Cradle of Civilization
Mandate of Heaven
Mare Nostrum
The Cossacks
El Dorado
Res Publica
Wealth of Nations

What kind of country, in what part of the world, do you most like to play? A lot of this DLC is situational.

That said, I think I'd say Cossacks?

I'd second Cossacks. Maybe Wealth of Nations as #2? But you've got the most handy and important ones.

I'm having the same problem. I've got 5 DLC I want for this game and can afford 1-2 of them.

I think Cossacks is the best one out that list. Better diplomacy, estates and horde mechanics. But each DLC mainly focuses on a region and religion, so you might value some of them higher than I would.

The map is exactly the same independent of which DLCs you have, all those changes are in the free patches. You could launch the game, decide on a country/region that looks interesting and check if there's any particular DLC that suits it particularly well, or avoid one that would have virtually zero impact to them.

As you probably know from EU3, a single campaign can take quite a lot of IRL time to play through, so picking DLCs after countries is not a bad idea.

Rights of Man is a big one to be able to abdicate and disinherit your heirs. The Cossacks adds the estates mechanic and a lot of diplomatic options. Wealth of Nations is big for trading companies. Those are the three I'd prioritize, but not necessarily in that order.
