You can choose a school when converting, but otherwise no

Btw, Ajam is the better choice compared to QQ..they hold more provinces needed for forming Persia and can easily gain the rest by jumping on Timmy during it's vassals independence war. They are also Sunni, so when forming Persia you get an event for a free switch to Shia, without penalty, allowing you to then choose a school. And they aren't tribal, so you don't need to waste 700 adm to reform. I formed Persia as Ajam in 1450, while QQ needs to wait to tech 8 I think to reform as well, so they eat more AE due to not having the perma claims early

Conclusion: As Ajam->Persia you can have both -shock received and +shock

I thought same thing with you since ajam can form persia just after a single war
then I noticed Qara Qoyunlu just able to destroy you in single war even after forming persia and even if he dont you are surrounded by chain of alliance or QQ who are definatly stronger than you :p Forming persia is easy: difficult part is being succesfull persia :D

also forming persia early is meaningless since their events starting usually around 1500 :) QQ is stronger than ajam and also has stronger traditions than persia (last time I checked %20 cav combat was stronger than %15 :p) so ... QQ was the way to go :D

Ajam can actually convert to Shia on day 1 by accepting rebel demands, I think. No need to wait for the event.

Techically speaking Hisn Kayfa is one of the better candidates for form Persia as their NIs are excellent (better than Persia, nearly as good as AQ) and they don't need to do a tribal reformation beforehand. It's just the little problem of actually shifting over into Persia proper and conquering enough territory... :p
