Can we stop Pre-order bonuses?

Greetings, long time fan and purchaser of Paradox content (both cosmetic and gameplay)

However, while I buy games on day 1 I find it somewhat distasteful that my favourite company continues the practice of pre order bonuses. I cannot justify it to my friends to pre order a game just to get a small amount of events and some map comsetics.
Can we please just add this to the base game? It'll be sold on the store anyway in a few months for 4.99 adding to the bloat of DLC/Cosmetic.
It's really not worth it IMO.

As it stands I'll be buying Rome on Day 1 but if the pre order bonuses was removed I would actually pre order.

I simply don't want to reward content being cut out of the game before release.

Where buyer meets seller...everyday companies are rewarded or punished on the free market for corporate decisions like the pre-order bonus.

I only pre-order games from PDX, because its the only company (so far) that never have disappointed me.

And i really like pre-order bonuses, if you dont like them, do not pre-order, but why you would want to ruin something thats very nice for so many of us? I do not care about anything else.

The pre-order bonus doesn't benefit us though. The core audience will be buying it anyway.

It's just punishing everyone else who isn't familiar with Paradox and uncertain about jumping in.

If you're going to buy it on day 1 anyway, why not preorder it? Even if you just buy it 1 day before it is released, you still get the preorder bonus. EDIT: Oh I see, you've got friends who might be on the fence, and you want them to have access to the same content pre-orderers will have access to.

Bottom line is that Paradox and/or Steam have a motivation to receive preorders (whatever that may be), so have chosen to provide exclusive (or temporarily exclusive) bonuses to maximise preorders.

Pre-order are used to increase sales. It increases the people who talk about the game thus increasing interest in the game and get more people to buy it.

The same as why they release beta-versions to youtubers and streamers and do dev-diaries and do streams to showcase the game.

Getting the information out about the game so more people are inclined to buy it.

its our right , we get earlier , we get a bonus for doing that , you wait until after release you get nothing ,also its not like a season pass dlc that need pre order .
its part of marketing technics that are not dirty at all , also a pre order without a bonus is like a doing a favor without recieving a thank you .
those bonus is how pdx thanks those who get the game before release , complaining about it sound more like jealousy because you cant pre order it now so you are upset about those who will get it . this is how you sound at least .

Preorder boni are the only thing that makes me and many otgers preorder.
Preorders are liked by Devs. So they are necessary to them to msximize preorders.

The only reason these little cosmetic items exist is for pre-orders. Other than that they wouldn't exist in the first place.
With Stellaris they gave away the pre-order portraits after a year for the anniversary edition anyway. So not seeing the problem.

After HOI4 as a whole (I ordered field marshal... silly me), the latest EU4 DLC, and the latest Stellaris patches... bonus or not, I'm good.

Gonna wait for the first few patches before I even bother. Solid products and content would be way more incentive to me than a silly pre-order bonus. Epirus flavor pack? Thanks but no thanks.

I'll pre order but only about 5 minutes before the game unlocks. Reason being, I'm a grouchy old timer who misses the excitement of going to the store, buying a game and reading the manual on the bus on the way home. It was a simpler time. Buying the game, and installing it are all part of my little excited ritual for a new game. Its part of the new game experience.

Handing over the money and then waiting for more than 2 months to play isn't fun for me.
