Can we request military help

I know there's alliances in this game. But I feel there need to a option (probably in the diplomat screen) to ask a country to send milirary help.

When an alliance declare war you basically can just sit there waiting for the other countries to beat their brains out in war. Part of this problem is random alliances or what looks like. The alliances to seem to a common interest. For example in my last IGC england only on declared war against france, like they always do. I was portugal and in the alliance with them. Well I just sat there letting England do all the work. During this time would countries in an military alliance request soldiers or even be involved just a little. I'm sure if the year was 1550 and England, Portugal was in an alliance against France, that france would get a hint and send some people down my way just to see what havoc they could reach. Or england would have asked if we could put some soldiers in england.

Are they even considering this?

These option do occur but you probably do not have them flagged to "Pop up".
Go to Menu/Option/Message settings and sort out how you want messages displayed.

Usually I don't summon my allies, execpt if it is part of a complex military tacic.

Don't forget, if you have bad relation with them, they will dishonor the alliance if you ask them to help you out.

It sounds like he did honour the call, just didn't bother actually doing any fighting. A lot of AI nations do this as well, which is partly why I never bother calling my allies for help. I only ally with countries I want to diploannex :D

Will there be an ability in EU2 to "insist" that those allies actually commit some troops?

I was wondering why Uglyduck didn't move this to the EU2 forum where it belongs. Now I know ... it was there to start with, and he moved it over here :D

Alright I don't understand why this is moved to this forum. My point is that you can't request soldiers to fight with you. Not for you, heck I am not a newbie playing this game. Either that or I have misplayed this game for months now. But the thing is you can't request armies to fight along side you. I don't mean alliances. Let's take the english independence war. The english recruited the hessen to fight with them. Now this isn't an option you get an alliance and maybe they will help you. I've been in alliances with Turkey and never seen any action. What a waste.

The ai has its ways... I hope there is some improvement in EU II.

BTW, rename the thread "Can we request military help in EU II", and pm Uglyduck to petition a move back to EU II forum. Seems your desire is to change the game, not ask how it works. Just kidding on the name change.

maybe mercenaries help this, i.e. you can "rent" a distant allies troops (like the Hessens for England) for the duration of a war?

Also, during the American Revolutionary war England recruited German soldiers to fight in America and they got payed to do it.So there should be an option to recruit soldiers from allied countries and this would also be historical because so many countries did it during wars.

And also let other countries recruit your own soldiers. Its a good way to get cash.

Thank Paradox. This is good news. Nevertheless, will countries be able to join in a war as it happened quite a bit historically this really needs to be added.
