As everyone knows, right now matrilineal marriage game rule is on/off, but i find that it causes problems, especially now with Holy Fury and the Enatic clans doctrine.

See, i like to play with them off, in order to get more realistic succession in traditional Agnatic-Cognatic realms.

The thing is, when the rule is off, it's off for everyone, EVEN for the different enatic successions laws, or if you got the conclave status of women to full equality.

So what i'm asking for is : Can we please get a matrilineal marriage game rule that allow them only when succession type is either Absolute Cognatic, Enatic-Cognatic or Cognatic or when the status of women law is at least notable (second highest) ?

Yeah, I usually play with Matrilineal Marriage off and I totally agree there should be a rule for it to be more dynamic. For me, I keep it off because I view it as a bit more 'Historical' and it tends to keep family trees more clean, not to mention the added challenge. However of course when playing big conversion mods or whatever, it gets a bit sticky because I feel a lot of the time matri-marriage oughta apply to some groups (Such as straight up matriarchal realms) while others it doesn't make much sense, so I find myself wondering at times which to pick when playing a mod where the 'views on women' are really all over the place from realm to realm. It would be awesome if there was a rule where Matri-Marriage was more dynamic based on Culture/Religion/Women Laws. That way if someone reforms to Enatic Clans, or perhaps uses a form of Cognatic with full "Status of Women" they aren't locked out of the option. It even says in Agnatic Clans that Matri-Marriage gets turned off, so the first step is there and clearly shows that it's possible for Matri-Marriage to enable/disable during the course of the game.

Yeah. I always play with matrilinear marriages turned off becouse of historical and immersion reasons but It doesn;'t make sense not to have them while playing in matriarchal societies. We should have and option that would allow as to have matrilinear marriage avaiability simply adjusted to local laws.

I would like to have options:

- On
- Off
- On for for last member of the dynasty
- On only for rulers
- On in Absolute Cognatic, Enatic and realms with maximised status of woman laws.
- On only in Enatic

I agree on having the more rules the better, but i think maximised status of women is too much, the level before that is good enough since it's when matrilineal marriages also become available for muslim realms !

There needs to be a better overall rework of how matrilineal marriages are handled; like how the AI is incredibly stupid regarding not trying to get them pretty much at all when there's absolute cognatic succession, all the Enatic Clans issues, etc. (I understand this is mostly a matter of older marriage hardcoding not being as flexible as the stuff that's been brought out as script-controlled?) Relatedly, Equality + Polygamy being unequal, for example, is ridiculous, though I bet not having "chain marriage" (A is married to B who's married to C) is a big part of the problem, as I could see that being a giant headache on a theoretical level, worse in practice...

Anyway, if and when said (very needed) work ever happens, this would definitely be good. I'm a crazy person who basically doesn't do any of the "use daughters just for NAPs" thing because I don't want to "lose" dynasty members, give others claims on my lands, or nowadays lose their bloodlines; I'd pass a "House Law" if I could that would bar male dynasts from taking matrilineal and female from taking patrilineal without head-of-house specifically approving it... but I don't think it should be as easy as it is to get other characters to go along with my madness as it generally is (for the marriages I control anyway)

It's true that the AI is quite bad with marriage, but i don't think we'll see a rework of these mechanics and calculations on CK2, let's hope it's much better in CK3 !
