In previous patches it was possible to convert culture in Colonial Nations provinces. But currently there isn't an option.

If your capital is in America = you can convert culture in your european provinces
If your capital is in Europe = you can't convert culture in your american provinces

The 1.30 update is almost perfect, I'm just missing this fix. We've been asking a lot for this the last years... can we have it added as a fix for 1.30.1? Please.

EDIT:
Ok, so it was answered in the stream.

@Groogy said: "the issue with that is if it should convert to the CN's culture or to your culture"

Well, I think the best way would be to make it so it converts to the CN's culture and also add an 'Enforce culture' button (the exact one you can press in your subjetct interaction with PUs). So:

1) Add an 'Enforce culture' in the subject interaction tab with Colonial Nations, like with PUs (it increases liberty desire too, etc...)
Screenshot_3.png

2) Add the 'Change culture' button (province view, currently greyed out) in your CN provinces, just as if they were directly yours, so you can change the culture to the CN's main culture (obviously not if it is already the same).

I second this. I can't understand why the devs won't implement this feature; all it does is give more choice and agency to the player. Maybe there would be some way to exploit it, but I can't see it. I would like a little more control over and interaction with colonial subjects in general. Colonialism as a whole probably needs a slight rework; in its current state, it feels boring and unengaging, at least to me.

Definitely agree with this. I find it strange that Paradox hasn't fixed this yet, or even addressed it. This was something that worked fine in EU4 some years ago.

Two additional things I'd like to see.

1: Ability to enforce colonial borders. Meaning if for example colonial America colonizes a province in another colonial region such as colonial Canada, then the colonial overlord has the option to force that colonial nation to give it to the correct colonial region. Such an action could come at the cost of increasing the liberty desire of the colonial nation that loses a province. This would give us the option to get some more pleasant looking colonial borders, and also useful if the outsider colonial nation has colonized in a certain pattern that has landlocked the natural colonial nation's pathway for expansion.

2: The ability to culture convert the provinces of vassals, but only on those provinces that do not have the vassal tag's primary culture. Perhaps this could be an ability unlockable through fulfilling a particular idea group (i.e. Influence).

Totally agree on every word. I started similar thread.

In my opinion the player should have the ability to culture convert the main culture of the subject nation and colonial nation.

Culture conversion is too easy, it should take longer to be achieved. Perhaps with modifiers to indicate process in case conversion is interrupted, it can be continued once control of the province is regained (within a time limit).

I would also like to add that the American, Mexican, Brazilian culture events are awful. I think they should only fire once a CN gains independence. Why does the game force me to have Mexican culture in Canada in 1500? And I can't don anything to change the culture!

Or at least add the "Enforce culture" button (like with other subjects) so we can change this.

Hopefully the AI would actually convert their culture once you click that button. Normally they don't do anything. It could be like religious conversions and allow the overlord to convert once enforced.

I don't have anything against culture conversion of the main culture of CN. In fact i'm all for it. I think that this option should be available for all subjects that you own. Also perhaps by adding that you can culture convert warning. In a similar fashion when you can religious convert province.

Agreed. His response is somewhat of a non-reply, considering that a player can convert the religion of a subject’s province even if the state religions are different. All it would require as you mention is adding the interaction to Enforce Culture. If it’s not enforced the culture is changed to the subject’s upon completion, regardless if that culture is shared by the master.
