Looks like another run I'll have to restart due to not being too vigilant regarding the Bloodline Ledger. Well at least these days I can keep track of them even after they've left. Before bloodlines they could just disappear without you ever finding them, especially on random appearance (which I set this setting to.)

A quickfix is if they come in married. You can't cut off their privates and ship them (the person, not the privates) off to China if they're married.

I think in my best bloodline game I missed out on Seljuk because he was turned into a eunuch (didn't get shipped to China though; not sure what happened).

Maybe just a special character flag where the ai is just like "Don't ship him to china, He's with me ."

Honestly, I'd go with a flag, let's call it "has_destiny" for anyone who has a scripted event due to fire (Charlemagne's initial events, the Turkic conquerors' invasions, etc) that prevents them being sent to China, reduces the odds of most non-scripted disease/injury/abduction (Some of these guys have had a weirdly frequent tendency in my playthroughs to be rendered eunuchs due to battlefield injury... even aside from the runs with AI Intrigue on and a large Byzantine Empire where there were absurd abduction-and-castration sprees), and so on until/unless they achieve their destiny, the player directly intervenes, an alternate path happens (Carloman wins, Seljuk's initial invasion fails, etc), or the world situation at the time is just too far from historical for their historical role to make sense.

Maybe "has_destiny_until = 1200.1.1" or something with certain things specifically clearing it.

This is a nice idea - but there might be lots of events that would need editing to make this work in the way you envision.

However, even if they only removed the ability for the AI to send them to China, it'd be worthwhile IMO.
