And there is unending supply of tea and butter to quench thirst as well. And the game of cricket to beat the Germans in, they suck at that game.

...that said, tea, butter and cricket wouldn't stop the U-boats...

Of course UK can be starved into surrendering. It is a tiny, overrated island after all with not much to call "resources" especially things that the game represents.

Not to deviate from topic but they do/did have pretty large coal deposits.

Anyways, I hope some dev could reply with the answer. Until then we speculate! The main point of my question to clarify once more if whether using subs, etc to target shipping, and thereby "choking" them, will make the AI sue for peace/have such an impact on war score/the nation that also a player would.

Large coal reserve means oil once refinery tech is good enough. I suppose that can be a good think for a besieged island...

Well, having, air superority over a nations region and naval supermacy in a nations bordering waters should count int the peace talks. Would be rather easy to implement rather then program the AI.

Surrendering is based according to DD, on occupied territory and wins/loses in the game, well if you just add a Air Supremacy factor and a Naval Supremacy factor then it would would be rather easy to add. Though but then is shouln't the just that easy becouse having air supermacy al over africa shouldn't be as weighted as much as having a air supermacy over the UK. Though the idea is rather simple and easy to add in the existing mechanics, thought it need to be weighted somehow, maybe due to manpower or industry.

Afaik we have/had a rather good range of resources in the UK and good production facilities until recently when all the steel plants started closing. The one thing we dont have is petrol but I dont think the UK could ever be made to starve, its not the same as starving a city in EU4 which in real life took many months anyway. There is no way you would ever starve a country. Yes we would have to change to horses instead of cars, tea instead of coffee, honey instead of sugar etc etc but a country like the UK could still last many many years if not indefinitely on its own. Its the luxuries that would have to go.

The reason Germany was near to collapse at the end of WW1 was more due to the lack of farmers etc as they all went to be soldiers. If you arent supporting a massive army and can rely on the navy and airforce to keep an army off your shore I think we could go on for years on our own if need be. We managed fine without much help in 1940. I think Churchill was being overly dramatic when he mentioned the U boats. More likely his job/career would have been on the line if he had failed to win the Battle of Britain - that was probably what he was scared of most!
