Can the private forum be made public after its release?

I was wondering if by any chance the private forum could be made public? This of course would to take place just after its release or better yet a few weeks before the release .

Why? So one could have some extra insight into the game and have a bit of extra reading and background material at the same time.

Make the private forum available to those of us who have spent a lot of time participating in the public forum.

Anything to ease the pain of waiting for the release or demo.

BTW Sap, while I obviously don't know what kind of goodies are lurking in the beta tester forums; I doubt the really interesting give & take is going to make it into the manual.

Nothing interesting .. just several nutters squabbling like baboons over big and little changes to the game. More embarrassing then anything else..


I'm sure the manual will be more than enough. Over 130 A4 pages.. without screenshots that is. Apparently in A5 it'll be around 300+. Now that's what I call a manual with big bull bollocks. Why read the ramblings of a bunch of beta-testers when you can have something clean, polished and referenced in one nice book?

I guess it won't hurt after the game is released ... but that's up to Johan in the end ..

Some stuff cannot be opened up because there was a lot of ideas (and are) flicked about with the possibility of EU #2, or an addon or anything of the sort, if it ever happens. There's some nice ideas there and it'd be best if they weren't spread about, you understand?

There's a few hurdles, before anything of that sort can be done, Jim

a) EU#1 must sell well (buy it damn you!)

b) Paradox must decide whether to make a release (Do it, Paradox, damn ye!)

c) New beta test, which you'll have to sign up to. I doubt they'll just allow you to sign an NDA and take their pants of for you just like that <G>. Here I'll use Matthew's wonderful argument: choose fewer beta testers, the tried and true ones which contributed with maximal effort during EU1.

Heh, some say I don't give up... but then again - what is unrequited love anyway? Sorry to hear about the flu... probably the combination of excessive EU, drinks and handmaidens. Of course, compare that to me... stuck with AoK, on a diet (booze has too many calories) and married with a new baby (which means none of you-know-what).

But back to the topic. This is a great forum with some very thoughtful discussions. I hope that I haven't been too much of a pest with Paradox to be precluded from EU2 (you know the whole demo list and how to tap the US market). However in the meantime, I think that I've proven my sincere interest in this game and hope that Johan & Patric feel the same way. If they do... allow me (and other guys on the outside like Doomie, Dark Knight, Dragon) to get involved in the private forum. It would be for the fun of it more than anything else.

If some stuff is really private then I give up.
But to put up a forum for new ideas for EU2 would be interesting, excluding the ones in the private forum of course and a few weeks after its release.

Have no fear it will sell very well (Sap.) for me it doesn't matter which language I get (German or English is fine). I'm telling my friends that a new age and new trendsetter is coming. It will be followed by many more I think. If not I will try to build one myself in a different age of course.

Seriously though, Sapura is right about the company secrets. It's a competetive world and the little you can keep for yourself can be the edge you need. If you however apply for the beta test of a possible EU2 then I'm sure you'll get access to the old stuff (which would be boring for you to read at that time).

Well, all I have to say on the subject is that if I miss the beta-test for EU2 I can't be held responsible for my actions.

If and when such a game is planned, I also suggest Paradox opens up a forum for discussion and suggestions of new features. The Master of Orion 3 team has the right idea I think...
