Hi! It seems that this last update broke my saved game. Even with all the mods and custom assets disabled the error remais. New cities work fine though. I tried the "start a new city to ensure the vanilla game works properly - before you try running your modded city" and I still can't load my city. It was so pretty :(

I had tried one of the betas, but when I found out the my custom buildings had disapeared I reverted back to stock. It has now updated to the final patch and this problem came up. Could it be because that same saved game had already gone through a beta, went back to stock and then was upgraded to 1.0.7c? I don't know.

Here's the error:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object [System.NullReferenceException]

at SimulationManager.SimulationStep () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

I hope there's a solution to this. It was my first and only city. Would it be helpful to upload the saved game somewhere?

I'm seeing the same problem (well, same exact call stack at least), but it was not caused by the latest patch. My save file got corrupted in 1.0.6b. Prior to the corruption, I had never used any mods or enabled any beta versions. Using the following steps, I have been able to create 6 separate corrupted save files in about 1.5 hours of testing:
  1. Load a working save.
  2. Bulldoze the Japanese Garden if it exists.
  3. Add the Japanese Garden, save to steam cloud and quit to desktop.
  4. Start the game and load the save - sometimes it is corrupt.
I don't know if the Japanese Garden actually have anything to do with it, but I was using that. I'm suspecting (only a guess of course) that since the working save used in step 1 almost always was the same, there is something that "deteriorates" from that point on.

Note that apart from the save file corruption, the game has never crashed for me and I have played it for several hours (including saving and loading) without any issues.

When I attempt to load a corrupted save file, I get the "Object reference not set..." dialog (except for one of the save files which doesn't even bother with that), then I see a completely flat map without any buildings and with washed out distorted colors. The world is permanently paused. I must then terminate Cities.exe using task manager (stuck on busy spinner).

Please let me know if I should provide any save files.

Edit: I attached a truncated log. I have the original if needed (couldn't be uploaded as attachment). It's 5 MB and didn't seem to stop growing. Cities.exe was continuously using ~8% CPU while being stuck at the bird busy spinner.
