Nope. You only get to revoke one title from traitors. Helps prevent abuse, and from players getting a "game over" screen for just losing a single war.

Like, it stops you from intentionally letting a vassal revolt for the sole purpose of being able to revoke all of his titles for yourself. It'd make being a liege even easier if with every rebellion crushed you could replace the holder of every single title with the most content courtiers in the realm. Sadly, this hasn't stopped people from basically doing the same thing with independence rebellions and intentionally granting them their independence so they can get strong claims on everything (c'mon, PI, fix it already).

And it's not immersion breaking in the least. An imprisoned ruler having a regent take care of affairs at home was pretty much the standard.

You can, if you banish them. But you get a seriously large amount of tyranny from that, which can cause a huge amount of problems with your other vassals.

What aggravates me is when I imprison a one-county duke, and I can only revoke the duchy!
This doesn't make sense. I get that taking away the ducal title would make the new count lose prestige, but I should just be able to take his county. Let him remain Duke of Prison. I don't find it gamebreaking or "gamey" at all. It just makes sense that a man with one county, whether he be king or duke, should be able to have that county revoked.

The game actively tries to avoid having unlanded people holding higher titles. It messes up some things--for example, the duke might receive taxes which he can't spend on anything.

That shouldn't be an issue though because his duchies should self-destruct once he has no lands.

Hm, really? I managed to have the Duchy of Bedford in my Kingdom of Ireland for quite a while, despite all of its holdings being in the Kingdom of England. :p Perhaps it's to prevent precisely this, then? Take away his county, and you also take away his duchy, thus stripping him of two titles for the price of one.

No, as Duke of Bedford you're still landed. We're speaking of a duchy self-destructing when its holder has 0 demesne (makes sense to me).
If Paradox wanted to prevent characters holding a duchy they have 0 holdings and 0 vassals in, they would allow you to usurp titles while the target is at war (who's with me?).

Jia Xu said:

Exactly. If you use the give_title cheat to give yourself anybody's counties, the duchy will self-destruct and he'll become an imprisoned courtier if he has no land.

As others above me said if you imprison a one county Duke just revoke his county, the Ducal title will be destroyed then. Personally I usually start by revoking their counties first instead of their largest title. Because if you just strip him of his duchy he's still going to have his power base. Best to take his land away instead of the more prestigious title imho.

If you want to get someone's titles, abuse/ignore them till they join an independence faction. This is easy to do with foreigners. When they send a consensus, let them become independent. You now have a free CB to revoke all their titles. Of course, you don't get the great relations boon of winning a major revolt.

This is exactly what I got. I lost a war and was imprisoned as a consequence. I lost duke's title. When truce expired all my remaining titles were revoked 1 by 1 and the game was over. So I guess AI can do that.

Why is nobody listening to me? Banish the traitors! :( Who cares about the tyranny, a few gifts, titles and feasts will fix that!

Not if penalty is say 200 ;) The next thing you will see is how fast the ground is approaching.
